ESTABLISHING A NEW COMPENSATION/CLASSIFICATION PLAN
ORDINANCE NO. 17728 TO ESTABLISH NEW SECTION I, LUMP SUM
PAYMENT, AND SECTION II, MANAGERIAL GROUP SALARY
ADJUSTMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby established a new Compensation/
Classification Plan Ordinance No. 17728 to establish new Section I and
Section II to read as follows:
Section I. Lump Sum Payment
The City Manager may authorize a one time lump -sum
payment in the amount of $150 on December 15, 1983, to
all permanent non -probationary classified employees
(excluding Fire, Police, and Managerial Group employees).
Section II. Managerial Group Salary Adjustments
The City Manager may authorize increases in salary ranges
and individual salaries for all employees in the
Managerial Group including Council appointed positions
effective August 8, 1983.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immediate
need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs by
establishing a new Compansation/Classification Plan Ordinance at the earliest
practicable date, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring
suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances
or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and
shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the ..2%
day of July, 1983.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
