HomeMy WebLinkAbout17755 ORD - 08/03/1983AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 TO THE CONTRACT WITH B. E. BEECROFT CO., INC. FOR BUILDING MODIFICATIONS TO THE CORPUS CHRISTI COMMUNITY CONVENTION CENTER/AUDITORIUM COMPLEX WHICH PROVIDES FOR REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF LOOSE AND BROKEN BRICK PAVERS IN THE PLAZA AND DRIVE-THRU AREAS OF THE CONVENTION CENTER; APPROPRIATING $10,265; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute Change Order No. 2 to the contract with B. E. Beecroft Co., Inc. for Building Modifications to the Corpus Christi Community Convention Center/Auditorium complex which provides for removal and replacement of loose and broken brick pavers in the Plaza and drive-thru areas of the Convention Center, a copy of which change order is attached hereto and made a part hereof marked Exhibit SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $10,265.00 from the No. 209 Community Convention Center Bond Fund applicable tp Project No. 209-76-1.3, Convention Center/ Auditorium Modifications. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find -and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take of ct upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 3erti day of , 1983. Remove, prepare substrate and replace all brick pavers in the bays NE of columns H13, H14, F14 and G14 at the Plaza area of the Convention Center and loose individual pavers throughout the Plaza using Pourable Epoxy Grout. Approx. 11,000 pavers @ $1.30 ea $14,300.00 2. Remove and replace all loose or broken pavers in the damaged area of the north drive-thru lane crosswalk using Pourable Epoxy Grout. 1 L.S. of 1 300 00 3. Chisel out and seal a crack traversing 21 bays of the Plaza area using "Epo-Flex" epoxy sealant. 1 L.S. of 1 815 00 TOTAL: $17,415.00 Why was this change necessary? (If left off the plans and specifications, explain why.) To resolve a serious problem of loose pavers which constitute a safety hazard to pedestrians in the Plaza area of the Convention Center. How can similar changes be avoided in the future? unavoidable - not originally a part of this project.
