HomeMy WebLinkAbout17762 ORD - 08/03/1983AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 55-50 OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES, 1976 REVISION AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE 17166, PASSED AND APPROVED JULY 28, 1982, BY AMENDING CERTAIN SCHEDULES THEREIN SO AS TO INCREASE WATER RATES FOR CUSTOMERS USING TREATED OR UNTREATED WATER. WHEREAS, the existing water rates of the City of Corpus Christi have been in effect since 1982; and WHEREAS, various costs of acquiring water, transporting of water, treatment and distribution of the same has been greatly increased since 1982; and WHEREAS, existing conditions have been studied by the City Council and the City Council has concluded that a new schedule of rates should be adopted; and WHEREAS, a rate increase is necessary to make the water distribution system more self -supportive: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY- COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. SECTION 2. That Section 55-50 of the City Code of Ordinances, 1976 Revision, as amended, and particularly as amended by Ordinance No. 17166, passed and approved July 28, 1982, be amended by changing a subsection after the two schedules found in Section 1 of said Ordinance No. 17166, said subsection to hereafter read as follows: Public Agency for Resale Rates Treated water purchased at the treatment plant site by a public agency for resale. Monthly Consumption Rate per ,000 Gallons .43 All over 20,000,000 Gallons $ 0 SECTION 3. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be effective for Cycle One billings on or about September 1, 1983 for August water consumption. SECTION 6. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption of this ordinance stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
