AMENDING SECTION 55-100 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 1976 REVISION, SO AS TO PROVIDE
CERTAIN INCREASES IN WASTEWATER RATES; PROVIDING FOR
REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 55-100 of the Code of Ordinances, City of
Corpus Christi, 1976 Revision, be and the same is hereby amended by amending
the schedule of rates and the rate schedule only thereof to hereafter read as
follows:

The charges in addition to the above minimums, as well as the
charge for all other sewer users, will be computed as dollars per one
thousand (1,000) gallons of water used as follows:
Inside City Limits Dollars per 1,000 Gallons of Water Used
Each 1,000 gallons of water $0.61
Outside City Limits
Each 1,000 gallons of water $1.22
SECTION 2. That Section 55-143, subsection (B) be and the same is
hereby amended by amending the unit charges, and the unit charges only
thereof, used to calculate the Abnormal Sewage Surcharge to hereafter read as
follows:
S = V x 8.34 x .0381 x (B.O.D. - 250)
and
S = V x 8.34 x .0494 x (S.S. - 250)
S = Surcharge in dollars for the billing period.

V = Water consumption in millions of gallons during the billing
period.
8.34 = Weight of water in pounds per gallon.
.0381 = Unit charge in dollars per pound for B.0.D.
.0494 = Unit charge in dollars per pound for suspended solids.
B.O.D. = B.O.D. strength index in parts per million per weight.
S.S. = Suspended solids strength index in parts per million by
weight.
250 = Normal B.O.D. and suspended solids strength in parts per
million by weight.
SECTION 3. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 5. The rates established by this ordinance shall be
applied against all wastewater service provided beginning with Cycle 1 on or
around August 1, 1983, and shall be billed to customers beginning on or
around September 1, 1983.
SECTION 6. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption of this
ordinance stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
