YOUNG CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE SECOND PHASE OF THE EXPANSION AT THE BROADWAY WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT; APPROPRIATING $23,091.65; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute Change Order No. 9 to the contract with W. T. Young Construction Company for the second phase of the expansion at the Broadway Wastewater Treatment Plant; a copy of which change order is attached hereto and made a part hereof marked Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $23,091.65 from the No. 250 Sanitary Sewer Bond Fund applicable to Project -No. 250-77-22, Broadway Wastewater Treatment Plant Phase II. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions atthree regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effe t upon first reading as an emergency measure this the f q+ day of , 1983. By Title i-w{J.°pr ATTACHMENT TO CHANGE ORDER NO. 9 Have the existing chlorinator and instruments located in the old grit removal building repaired and reconditioned by the respective manufacturers' representatives to good working condition and in- stall the chlorinator in the new chlorine room and the instruments in the instrument panel in the new pump building. The chlorinator and instruments will be coated for protection from the plant envi- ronment. Five working days are allowed to complete this work. Should either the repaired chlorinator or instruments not be re- turned in good working condition to the Contractor, additional working days will be allowed. 2. Install a SST 2" control valve in the RFR blower discharge piping as shown on the attached drawing. The valve will normally be open and will automatically close to prevent lose of air through the 2" line should be blowers be stopped or should the air pressure drop and allow liquid to enter the air diffusers and/or air piping. Ten working days are allowed to complete this work in order to ob- tain the valve and necessary connecting piping pieces and to in- stall the valve. 3. Install 254 square yards of reinforced concrete sidewalks at e unit cost of $39.60 per square yard. A large portion of the work is expected to require hand or manual handling of the concrete. 4. Install 440 square yards of asphalt paving at a unit cost of $14.60 per square yard. Asphalt paving is to be installed as de- scribed in the contract documents and alocated as shown on the at- tached drawing. Five working days are allowed to recondition the existing caliche and install the asphalt pavement. Total working days with these changes is 30 days Total working days with these changes added will now be 485 days.
