HomeMy WebLinkAbout17797 ORD - 08/24/1983AN ORDINANCE • AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH AMERICAN ROOFING AND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE ANIMAL SHELTER IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT; APPROPRIATING $290,000 FOR THIS CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with American Roofing and Construction Company for the Animal Shelter Improvements Project, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of American Roofing and Construction Company opened on the 27th day of July 1983, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $290,000 out of the No. 267 Animal Shelter Bond Fund of which appropriation $209,400 is for the contract award, $49,800 is for Change Order No. 1 which provides for a 70 foot kennel extension, and $30,800 is for additional engineering, testing, legal advertising, and incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 267-77-1, Animal Shelter Improvements. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the ay of August, 1983.
