HomeMy WebLinkAbout17817 ORD - 09/07/1983AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TRAFFIC SIGNALIZATION EQUIPMENT FOR MODERNIZATION IMPROVEMENTS AT FORTY-EIGHT (48) INTERSECTIONS IN THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM; APPROPRIATING $198,760.32 OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL/STATES GRANT, DEPARTMENT 152, ACTIVITY 807.07, CODE 502, THEREFOR; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given for the purchase of forty-eight (48) traffic signal controllers from Signal Engineering Company of Corpus Christi for signalization improvements in the Central Business District Traffic Signal System. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the Ninth Year Local Option and Contingencies No. 162/152/807.07/502 Community Development Block Grant Fund the sum of $198,760.32 for the purchase of the aforesaid equipment. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for efficient administration of City affairs by appropriating the sums above described in order that signalization improvements may be completed as soon as possible within the Central Business District, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances and resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is pass and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this 7 day of September, 1983.
