AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE FOR LIMITATIONS ON TERMS AND
SERVICE ON BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE
APPOINTMENT OF ADVISORY, NON-VOTING MEMBERS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 2, Administration, Article IV,
Miscellaneous Boards, Commissions and Committees, Division 1, General, of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, as amended, be
amended by adding the following section:
Limitations on Appointments.
No person serving on a board, commission or
committee of the city shall be reappointed by the mayor
or city council to serve for a period longer than six
years consecutively unless such service on the board,
commission or committee is required by virtue of the
individual's position or title as the result of
employment. No person shall be appointed by the mayor or
city council to serve on more than one board, commission
or committee of the city at the same time unless required
by charter, statute or other ordinance or when such
service is required by virtue of the individual's
position or title as the result of employment.
The foregoing limitations do not apply to the
appointment of advisory, non-voting members to a board,
commission or committee of the city.
