PROHIBITING THE USE OF SEINES OR NETS FOR THE TAKING OF
SHRIMP OR FISH IN CERTAIN WATERS OF CORPUS CHRISTI BAY;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND FOR PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 12, Boats, Bays and Waterways, of the Code
of Ordinances of the City of.Corpus Christi,, Texas, be amended by adding to
Article I thereof the following:
Section 12-18. Use of seines and nets.
It shall be unlawful for any person to place, set, drag,
or in any manner use, assist in the use of, or cause to
be used, a seine or net greater than twenty (20) feet in
length for the taking of fish or shrimp in or on any of
the waters of Corpus Christi Bay within the city limits
of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, described as
follows:
(a) That area located within the boundaries of the Corpus
Christi Marina as defined in this chapter.
(b) Those areas in the waters of Corpus Christi Bay
located within one hundred.(100) yards from the mean
low tide shoreline of Corpus Christi Beach.
(c) Those areas in the waters of Corpus Christi Bay
located closer to the shoreline than one hundred
(100) yards eastward from a line connecting the
easternmost ends of the groins on McGee Beach.
(d) That area located within the boundaries of Glasscock
Fill breakwater area.
(e) Those areas in the waters of Corpus Christi Bay
located within one hundred (100) yards from any pier,
dock or wharf.
The Marina Superintendent is hereby authorized to
promulgate additional temporary rules and regulations
which may prohibit shrimping in certain other areas of
Corpus Christi Bay for the duration of special boating or
public beach events.
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word
or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its
publication one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus
Christi, which publication shall contain the caption stating in summary the
purpose of the ordinance.
