HomeMy WebLinkAbout17897 ORD - 10/26/1983AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH HELDENFELS BROTHERS, INC. FOR THE CONNECTION OF SURFSIDE BOULEVARD TO TIMON BOULEVARD PROJECT; APPROPRIATING $258,000 FOR THIS CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Heldenfels Brothers, Inc. for the Connection of Surfside Boulevard to Timon Boulevard Project providing for safer thoroughfare by means of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and a two-way connection, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Heldenfels Brothers, Inc. opened on the 17th day of August 1983, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $222,000 out of the Seventh Year Community Development Block Grant Fund No. 162-152-807.05-502 and $36,000 out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund for a total appropriation of $258,000, of which appropriation $234,533.83 is for the contract award and $23,466.17 is for additional engineering, contingencies, and related expenses applicable to Project No. 220-82-10.1, Connection of Surfside Boulevard to Timon Boulevard. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 26th day of October, 1983.
