HomeMy WebLinkAbout17919 ORD - 11/02/1983AN ORDINANCE I AMENDING CHAPTER 19 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION OF EMPLOYEES AT LEAST EVERY THREE (3) YEARS TO CONTINUE FOOD HANDLING CERTIFICATION AND TO PROVIDE THAT AN APPLICANT FOR RENEWAL OF A FOOD MANAGER'S PERMIT BE REQUIRED TO SATISFACTORILY COMPLETE THREE HOURS OF CONTINUING EDUCATION; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Chapter 19, Food and Food Establishments, Division 3, Food Handling Certification, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, as amended, be amended by adding to the third sentence of Section 19-75, Certification, the following: , and additional training must be provided for employees at least every three (3) years to maintain certification. SECTION 2. That Chapter 19, Food and Food Establishments, Division 4, Food Manager's Permit, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, as amended, be amended by deleting Section 19-83, Reissuance, in its entirety and substituting the following in its place: Section 19-83. Renewal. An applicant for renewal of a food manager's permit shall be required to satisfactorily complete three hours of continuing education in safe food handling within six months prior to renewal of such permit. SECTION 3. Notice of the passage of this ordinance shall be published by publishing the caption thereof stating in summary the purpose of the ordinance one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and this ordinance shall be effective as of the date of such publication. SECTION 4. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. 1"919 SEP 2 81984 .OFILMED that the foregoing, ordi,nancewa read forottte f`: �st time ,and pw sed to its second readingon this the r� ••• dayof ( Ct;,I• , 19 21 , by the following vote: Luther Jones Betty N.
