AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE
BOARD ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 17258 ON SEPTEMBER 15, 1982,
PROVIDING FOR DISCIPLINARY ACTION OF SAFETY VIOLATIONS; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the Rules and Regulations of the Civil Service Board
adopted by Ordinance No. 17258 on September 15, 1982, be amended by amending
Article IV, Section 5, Paragraph 6, to read as follows:
6. has violated any departmental rule or regulation, or
failed to obey any order or direction made or given by an
officer superior to or in a supervisory capacity over the
employee; has violated any official city safety rule; or has
violated any city standard instruction.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immediate
need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs by amending the
Rules and Regulations of the Civil Service Board as aforementioned, such
finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter
rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon
first reading as an emergency measure this the 9th day of November, 1983.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
