HomeMy WebLinkAbout17934 ORD - 11/09/1983AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND ABANDONING IRIS AVENUE FROM COMMERCE STREET TO A POINT 285 FEET EAST, EKLUND AVENUE FROM COMMERCE STREET TO A POINT 285 FEET EAST, THE 20 FOOT WIDE ALLEYS IN BLOCKS 6 AND 7, CLARKW00D SUBDIVISION; SUBJECT TO PROVISIONS LISTED BELOW; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, there exists Iris Avenue from Commerce Street to a point 285 feet east, Eklund Avenue from Commerce Street to a point 285 feet east, the 20 foot wide alleys in Blocks 6 and 7, Clarkwood Subdivision; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is feasible and advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi to abandon said easement, subject to the provisions listed below: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby closed and abandoned Iris Avenue from Commerce Street to a point 285 feet east, Eklund Avenue from Commerce Street to a point 285 feet east, the 20 foot wide alleys in Blocks 6 and 7, Clarkwood Subdivision, providing that all of Blocks 6 and 7 and Lots 7 - 12, Block 1, are replatted, providing the 6 inch waterline in the alley of Block 6, be relocated at at owner's expense or a 10 foot wide utility easement be dedicated for said waterline, retaining the south 25 feet of Iris Avenue and the south 20 feet of Eklund Avenue as drainage easements. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for efficient administration of City affairs by closing and abandoning the aforesaid streets, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 9th day of November, 1983.
