AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH MAVERICK
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR COMPLETION OF THE SOUTH STAPLES
SANITARY SEWER TRUNKLINE EXTENSION, PHASE I PROJECT;
APPROPRIATING $92,896.42; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a
contract with Maverick Constrction Company for completion of the South Staples
Sanitary Sewer Trunkline Extension, Phase I Project abandoned by CCM Utility
Corporation, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and
contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are
made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Maverick
Construction Company, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the
City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $60,000 from the No. 250
Sanitary Sewer Bond Fund, and reappropriating remaining construction and
contingency funds in the amount of $32,896.42, previously authorized by
Ordinance No. 17554, dated April 6, 1983, for the South Staples Street Sanitary
Sewer construction for a total appropriation of $92,896.42.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take
immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the
construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
