TEXAS:
AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CITY CODE, SECTION 57-231 TO INCREASE THE
LIABILITY INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR AUTO WRECKER
OPERATORS OPERATING UNDER PERMIT FROM THE CITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That Chapter 57, Vehicles for Hire, of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, as amended, be amended by
changing Section 57-231 thereof to hereinafter read as follows:
Section 57-231. Insurance.
Before any auto wrecker permit is issued to a person,
he shall file with the Chief of Police a certificate of
insurance showing that the permittee carries liability
and property damage insurance in the following minimum
amounts:
(1) Automobile liability insurance in the amount
of $100,000 per person, $300,000 per
occurrence, and $50,000 for property damage
per occurrence.
(2) Liability insurance in the minimum amount of
$100,000 per occurrence to provide property
damage coverage for vehicles being towed,
being prepared for tow, or otherwise in the
care, custody or control of the permittee.
Said policies shall contain a clause naming the City as
an additional insured and providing for 30 days notice
to the Chief of Police in the event of any material
change or cancellation of the policy. The Chief of
Police shall have the authority to increase the above
requirements upon 30 days written notice to all
permittees.
