CLOSING AND ABANDONING PORTIONS OF COUNTY ROADS NO. 19 AND
26; PROVIDING CONDITIONS THEREFOR; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, notice of the time and place for holding a hearing concerning
the closing of that portion of 20 foot wide County Road No. 19 (being the, x_ tam

from the existing centerline of County Road No. 19 eastward for 970 feet, was l.C-nd5
given by publication and mailed to the last known addresses of the owners of
property abutting the public way and within 450 feet of the area proposed to be
closed, and thereafter, pursuant to said notice, public hearing was held at
Regular Council Meeting by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi on
February 1, 1984, in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter; and
WHEREAS, it was determined by the City Council after such hearing that
the aforesaid portions of right-of-way, proposed to be closed, are not needed
now, nor will they be within the foreseeable future needed as public rights of
way, and that the same should revert to the abutting property owners, subject to
certain specified conditions:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby closed and abandoned that portion of
County Road No. 19, being the easterly one-half thereof, adjacent to Lot Four
(4), Section Eleven (11), _ .. , h5AIiAA
subject to the owner of said Lot 4 rerouting the existing drainage channel along e&big
the easterly side of said County Road No. 19 to the westerly side of said road j,,91 /S
and constructing a temporary caliche road with a minimum width of 10 feet on
such westerly side of said road.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby closed and abandoned County Road
No. 26 from the existing centerline of County Road No. 19 eastward a distance of
970 feet, subject to the owner of said Lot 4, Section 11, constructing a
temporary caliche road with a minimum width of 10 feet in the south 20 feet of
said county road a distance of 970 feet easterly from the centerline of County
Road No. 19; provided, however, that the closing and abandonment of County Road
No. 26 shall be subject to and effective upon the annexation of said County Road
No. 26, as further described and shown by map thereof attached hereto and marked
Exhibit "A".
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient administration of City affairs by closing and abandoning the
aforesaid rights-of-way, such. finding of an emergency is made and declared
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon
ordinances or resolutions at thr e-re9ular meetings so that this ordinance is

passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the
1st day of February, 1984.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
