HomeMy WebLinkAbout18121 ORD - 03/14/1984AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL FOR 18,500 WATER METERS; APPROPRIATING $765,883; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Rockwell International for the purchase of 18,500 water meters with an option to extend the meter supply agreement for an additional 18,500 meters for the second year phase, subject to the approval of the seller and the City Manager, or his designee, according to the bid of Rockwell International, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $765,883 out of the No. 205 Water Construction Bond Fund, of which $612,800 is for meters and $153,083 is for labor, supplies, tools, vehicles and equipment, according to the attached Exhibits. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 14th day of March, 1984.
