HomeMy WebLinkAbout18238 ORD - 05/16/1984AN ORDINANCE APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 24 TO THE CONTRACT WITH F & E ERECTION COMPANY FOR THE SECOND PHASE OF EXPANSION OF THE OSO WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT WHICH PROVIDES FOR ADDITIONAL WORK AT THE OSO PLANT INVOLVING INSTALLATION OF INTERMEDIATE BASE PLATES, ANCHOR BOLTS, AND GROUT PADS UNDER THE RAILS OF CLARIFIERS 1, 2, 3, AND 4; APPROPRIATING $20,869.26; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby approved Change Order No. 24 to the contract with F & E Erection Company for the second phase of expansion of the Oso Wastewater Treatment Plant which provides for additional work at the Oso Plant involving installation of intermediate base plates, anchor bolts, and grout pads under the rails of clarifiers 1, 2, 3, and 4, all as more fully set forth in the change order, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $20,869.26 from the No. 250 Sanitary Sewer Bond Fund. Section 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 16th day of May, 1984. Step 3 Grant No. C-48-1214 Improvements to the Oso Wastewater Treatment Plant Corpus Christi, Texas Contract No. 5, Treatment Plant Expansion Second Phase of Plant Construction CHANGE ORDER NO. 24 PART A: NECESSITY OF THE CHANGE ORDER: Job No. 9254.30 This Change Order involves the installation of intermediate base plates, anchor bolts, and grout pads for the rails of Clarifiers #1, 2, 3, and 4. As work previously performed under Oso Contract #4 on Clarifiers #5, 6, 7, and 8, additional base plates, anchor bolts, and grout pads for the rails were supplied by the clarifier equipment manufacturer and installed by the Contractor from September thru November 1982. Since Oso Contract #5 was bid in November 1981, the cost of installing these additional base plates was not included in the bid price. Additional base plates and anchor bolts have been supplied by the clarifier equipment manufacturer for this contract. Installation of these additional base plates and anchor bolts, with grout pads will be required for final installation and proper operation of the clarifier equipment on the west plant.
