HomeMy WebLinkAbout18333 RES - 07/17/1984a RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the redredging of the Mustang Island Fish Pass would be of great economic benefit to Corpus Christi and the entire Coastal Bend; and WHEREAS, the redredging of the Mustang Island Fish Pass would greatly affect the salinity of Corpus Christi Bay; and WHEREAS, the redredging of the Mustang Island Fish Pass would greatly improve overall fishing conditions in Corpus Christi Bay and the surrounding area; and WHEREAS, the pass was constructed with public funds and should be maintained to accomplish its original goals; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDBY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi supports the redredging of the Mustang Island Fish Pass and the reopening of that pass to water exchange between Corpus Christi Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the desire of the Council to express its support of the redredging of the Mustang Island Fish Pass at the earliest practicable date, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this resolution is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 17th day of July, 1984.
