HomeMy WebLinkAbout18382 RES - 07/31/1984a• A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Sgt. Ruben Almanza served his country in the military service for 2 years with 21 months in Viet Nam; and WHEREAS, Sgt. Almanza served the citizens of Corpus Christi as a police officer for almost 9 years, first in the Uniform Division and then in the Special Services Division since January 11, 1979; being promoted to Sergeant August 10, 1980; and WHEREAS, through his career, Sgt. Almanza was the kind of officer who served as an example of the highest purposes of law enforcement and as an inspiration to his fellow officers; and WHEREAS, Sgt; Almanza died on July 28, 1984, as a result of protecting his fellow citizens on July 27, 1984, from the affliction of violent crime and thus achieved the highest dignity and nobility of which men are capable; and WHEREAS, the passing of this dedicated, loyal municipal employee and upright citizen of our community is a great loss to his many friends and loved ones in whose hearts his deeds and his exemplary conduct will always remain alive: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: That in grateful recognition of his accomplishments and acts of bravery, loyalty and responsibility, the citizens of this community join in mourning the loss of this outstanding law-enforcement officer and extend their heartfelt condolences to his family. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the family of Sgt. Ruben Almanza. PASSED AND APPROVED this 31st day of July, 1984. ATTEST: APPROVED: 30th DAY OF JULY, 1984 J.
