AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 18036 BY AMENDING SECTION 3 IN ORDER
TO ADOPT THE FINAL ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR STREET IMPROVEMENTS
ON THE FOLLOWING STREETS:
Spohn Hospital Area, Phase II
Elizabeth Street, from South Staples to Ocean Drive;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 18036, passed and approved January 18,
1984, be amended by amending Section 3 so as to adopt the final assessment roll
and assessments levied against owners of abutting property on the following
streets:
Spohn Hospital Area, Phase II
Elizabeth Street, from South Staples to Ocean Drive;
a substantial copy of which assessment role is attached hereto and made a part
hereof, marked Exhibit "A."
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient and effective administration of City affairs by the adoption of the
final, corrected assessment roll as aforesaid, such finding of an emergency
is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to
consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular
meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first
reading as an emergency measure this the 21st day of August, 1984.

SPOHN HOSPITAL AREA, PHASE II
ELIZABETH STREET
FROM SOUTH STAPLES STREET TO OCEAN DRIVE
This project shall consist of improvements to Elizabeth Street within the described
limits and provides for construction by excavation to a width and depth to permit
the laying of a 48 foot wide street from Santa Fe to Ocean Drive. The improvements
within this area include a 6" curb and gutter section, 6" thick compacted subgrade,
10" thick flexible caliche base, and 3" of Hot Mix asphaltic pavement. Reinforced
concrete sidewalk, 4" thick and 6" thick reinforced driveways will be constructed
as shown on the plans. There will be selective replacement of sidewalks, driveways
and curb and gutter between Santa Fe and South Staples Street with the existing
pavement remaining in place.
The assessment rates have been calculated in accordance with the City's current
paving policy and low bid prices. Based on this policy and the low bid submitted
by Howell Construction Company and Isles Construction Company, a joint venture,
the assessment rates are as follows:
