AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, SECTION 53-254, SCHEDULE V,
INCREASE OF STATE SPEED LIMIT IN CERTAIN ZONES, WHICH WILL
CHANGE THE SPEED LIMIT ON PORTIONS OF SOUTH PADRE ISLAND
DRIVE, HORNE ROAD, ALAMEDA STREET, ENNIS JOSLIN ROAD, VIOLET
ROAD, AND McKINZIE ROAD; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY.
SECTION 1. That Sec. 53-254, Schedule V, of the Corpus Christi City
Code be amended by adding the following sections:
S. Padre Island Drive (S.H. 358) Frontage Roads, North and
South Frontage Roads:
From a point approximately 2,050 feet southwest of Trojan
Drive (Sta. 601+ 28.89) to the centerline of West Point Road
(Sta. 670 + 00), on the N. Frontage Road -- 45 m.p.h., At
all times.
From a point 500 feet east of West Point Road (Sta. 667 +
50) to Ayers Street (Sta. 572 + 89.87) on the S. Frontage
Road -- 45 m.p.h., At all times.
Horne Road:
From Airport Road (Columbia Drive) to Old Brownsville Road
(F.M. 665) -- 35 m.p.h., At all times.
and by deleting the following:
Alameda Street:
From Louisiana Street to Ocean Drive -- 35 m.p.h., At all
times.
From Louisiana Street to north end of Alameda Street -- 30
m.p.h., At all times.
Ennis Joslin Road:
From Alameda Street to S. Padre Island Drive -- 45 m.p.h.,
At all times.
Violet Road (F.M. 24):
From a point 5,531.35 feet south of Leopard Street (S.H. 9)
to the North Frontage Road of I.H. 37 -- 45 m.p.h. -- All
times, except when school limit flashers indicating 30

(Sta. 187 + 73) to the Interstate 37 North Frontage Road
(Sta. 7 + 63.8) -- 40 m.p.h., At all times, except when
school limit flashers indicating 25 m.p.h. are displayed 100
feet from the south and north sides of Guess Drive and
Blades Drive, respectively.
McKinzie Road:
From a point approximately 300 feet south of Kingsbury Drive
to a point 400 feet south of Haven Drive -- 40 m.p.h., At
all times.
From a point 400 feet south of Haven Drive to the south City
Limits Line -- 45 m.p.h., At all times.

SECTION 2. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of this
ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of the
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
