HomeMy WebLinkAbout18454 ORD - 09/11/1984AN ORDINANCE APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 TO THE CONTRACT WITH IBANEZ CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. FOR ANNAVILLE AREA NO. 1 STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT PROVIDING FOR DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE COMMON DRAINAGE EASEMENT BETWEEN THE JACKSON PLACE AND JACKSON WOODS UNIT 2 SUBDIVISIONS; APPROPRIATING $26,066.25; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby approved Change Order No. 2 to the contract with Ibanez Construction Co. Inc., for the Annaville Area No. 1 Street Improvement Project providing for drainage improvements in the common drainage easement between the Jackson Place and Jackson Woods Unit 2 Subdivisions, all as more fully set forth in the change order, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $26,066.25 from the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund. Section 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the llth day of September, 1984. New Pence -Labor & Material (225 L.F. @ $19.00/L.F ) 4,275.00 TOTAL: $26,066.25 Jackson Woods Unit 2 Developer (Tucker) to pay City $5,000 plus cost of Items 7 & 8 above. Why was this change necessary? (If left off the plans and specifications, explain why.) This is additional work not planned or anticipated when contract was awarded. How can similar changes be avoided in the future? Unavoidable.
