HomeMy WebLinkAbout18472 ORD - 09/18/1984TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH THE GOLDSTON CORPORATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN OVERLOOK ON THE SEAWALL AT THE PEOPLES STREET T -HEAD ENTRANCE; APPROPRIATING $139,710.09 FROM THE NO. 162 FUND AND $11,174 FROM THE MARINA RESERVE FUND; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with the Goldston Corporation providing for the construction of a 40 foot long by 22 foot wide overlook on the seawall at the Peoples Street T -Head entrance, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of the Goldston Corporation, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Cbrpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $139,710.09 of which $59,710.09 is from the No. 162 Federal/States Grant Fund, Department 152, Activity 807.07, Code 502, 9th Year Community Development Block Grant and $80,000 is from a Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant and that there is hereby appropriated $11,174 from the 1984-85 Marina Reserve Fund. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 18th day of September, 1984.
