HomeMy WebLinkAbout18513 ORD - 10/16/1984-4; AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH BACKHOE LEASE SERVICE FOR THE FURMAN SCHOOL AREA STREET IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE II PROJECT; APPROPRIATING $915,000; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Backhoe Lease Service for the Furman School Area Street Improvements, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of the Backhoe Lease Service, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $915,000 of which $235,000 is from the No. 220 Street Bond Fund and $680,000 is from the No. 162 Federal/States Grant Fund, Department 152, Activity 807.08, Code 502, 10th Year Community Development Block Grant. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 16th day of October, 1984.
