HomeMy WebLinkAbout18519 ORD - 10/16/1984AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $2,318,640 FROM THE NO. 205 WATER BOND FUND FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF ALTERNATE WATER SUPPLY, INCLUDING WELLS AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT AND POWER COSTS, LEGAL FEES AND THE LEASE OF LAND FOR WATER WELLS, WELL WATER PURCHASES, CONSULTANT SERVICES RELATED TO ADDITIONAL POTENTIAL WELL WATER, THE DEVELOPMENT OF ADDITIONAL WATER SOURCES THROUGH DESALINIZATION AND CLOUD SEEDING, TRANSPORTATION OF WATER THROUGH PIPELINES, THE REDUCTION OF EVAPORATION BY APPLYING A SURFACE FILM AND SURVEY OF LAKE SEDIMENTATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $2,318,640 from the No. 205 Water Bond Fund for expenses related to the research and development of alternate water supply, including wells and associated equipment and power costs, legal fees and the lease of land for water wells, well water purchases, consultant services related to additional potential well water, the development of additional water sources through desalinzation and cloud seeding, transportation of water through pipelines, the reduction of evaporation by applying a surface film and survey of lake sedimentation. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the necessity of appropriating the sums hereinabove described at the earliest practicable date such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this 16th day of October, 1984.
