HomeMy WebLinkAbout18527 ORD - 10/23/1984i AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PLATTING ORDINANCE, SECTION V, REQUIRED IMPROVEMENTS, SUBSECTION B, MINIMUM STANDARDS, PARAGRAPH 4, STREET MARKERS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section V, Required Improvements, Subsection B, Minimum Standards, Paragraph 4, Street Markers, of the Platting Ordinance be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 4. Street Markers. Two street name signs (each double sided) having the following specifications shall be erected at one corner of all street intersections in such subdivisions for street markers. a. The street name signs shall be made of 6" extruded aluminum metal blanks with a minimum length of 24". b. The signs shall have a green reflective background (fabricated of Engineer Grade reflective sheeting) with the respective street name fabricated in white 4" Series 'C' Engineer Grade reflective cut-out letters, and the block numbers and street name suffixes (ST for Street, DR for Drive, PL for Place, BLVD for Boulevard) fabricated in white 2" Series 'C' Engineer Grade numerals and uppercase letters. c. Die-cast aluminum cross -arm type post -to -post and sign -to -sign brackets to support extruded blades shall be used. The post -to -sign bracket shall be sufficient to fit a 2-3/8" 0.D. pipe and both brackets shall have a minimum slot length of 6". d. Special stainless steel set screws with a "center pin" shall be used to secure the brackets to the post and special 1 -point "spline head" through bolts shall be used to secure the signs to the brackets. e. The pipe support shall be a galvanized 2.0 "nominal metal pipe with a 0.154" wall thickness. The pipe shall have a 6" x k" reinforcement rod located several inches from the bottom to prevent 18527 _ torsion separation.of the pipe support from the concrete foundation. f. The pipe support shall be a minimum of 11'-6" long with at least 2'-6" of the pipe below the surface of the ground. The bottom of the street name sign shall be at least 9'-0" above, but not more than 10'-0" above the sidewalk grade. The material of the street name signs, the method of attaching the sign to the post, the details of lettering, painting and method of installation, as well as the location of the sign at the intersection shall be in accordance with the specifications on file in the office of the Director of the Traffic Engineering Department of the City. 9. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immediate need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs by amending the the Platting Ordinance as aforesaid, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 23rd day of October, 1984.
