AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING, SUBJECT TO CONCURRENCE OF TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF
WATER RESOURCES, THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH JALCO,
INC. PROVIDING FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE McARDLE ROAD
SLIPLINING, PHASE II PROJECT; APPROPRIATING $1,200,000; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized, subject to
concurrence of Texas Department of Water Resources, to execute a contract with
Jalco, Inc. providing for the completion of the McArdle Road Sliplining, Phase
II project previously abandoned by McCullough Contracting Co., all as more fully
set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the
office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference
and according to the bid of the Jalco, Inc., said bid being the lowest and most
advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $1,200,000 of which
$756,127.43 is from the No. 250 Sanitary Sewer Bond Fund and $443,872.57 is
construction and contingency funds previously authorized by passage of Ordinance
No. 16221 dated May 6, 1981, for the McArdle Sliplining, Phase II construction.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take
immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the
construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this
the 6th day of November, 1984.

or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three

and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
