HomeMy WebLinkAbout18560 ORD - 11/20/1984AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH CLAUDE CHAPMAN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE GEORGE EYANS SCHOOL AREA STREET IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE II PROJECT. APPROPRIATING $1,020,000; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Claude Chapman Construction Company for the George EvansSchool Area Street Improvements, Phase II Project, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents On file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Claude Chapman Construction Company, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2 That there 10 hereby appropriated 81,020,000 of which 9210,000 Is from the No. 220 Street Bond Fund and $810.000 is from the No. 162-10250].0]-502, 9th Year Community Development Block Grant. SECTION 3 That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take mmediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance s passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 20th day Of November, 1984 ATTEST.
