AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH SOUTH TEXAS
CHAPTER AGC FOR A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF AN ARENA IN THE
BAYFRONT SCIENCE PARK, APPROPRIATING $15,000; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an

SECTION 2. There 1s hereby appropriated $15,000 from the Convention
Center Bond Fund
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient and effective administration of City affairs by authorizing the
aforementioned feasibility study for anrsuch finding of an emergency is
made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration
and voting upon ordinances arr esolutions at three regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed and shalltake effect upon first reading as an emergency
measure this the 20th day of November, 1984.

AN AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi bayfront plan identifies a need
for construction of an arena facility of approximately 10,000 to 12,000 seats to
replace the existing Memorial Coliseum in the time frame 1995 to 2000; and
WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi '90 Task Force on tourism and co ventions
is recommending that the feasibility be explored for providing a replacement
arena at an earlier date, and
WHEREAS, the Area Development Committee, South Texas Chapter AGC,
Corpus Christi Area Convention and Tourist Bureau, Corpus Christi Hotel/Motel
Association, and Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce have agreed to share in the
funding of a feasibility study fora tiered arena, and
WHEREAS, the South Texas Chapter AGC has agreed to take Ole lead in
retaining a consultant to prepare such a feasibility report.
NOW. THEREFORE, the City of Corpus Christi, hereinafter referred to as
City, and the South Texas Chapter, Associated General Contractors, hereinafter
referred to as AGC, hereby agree as follows'
SECTION 1. AGC agrees t0 retain a sultan[, 506,099 90 approval by
City, to conduct a feasibn lnty 0000, fora tiered arena addressing the following
- Determine the economic feasibility of the project.
- Determine the timing of such project.
- Advice as to best location.
- Advice as to size and type facility.
- Prepare an ancone projection
- Review parking requirements and traffic flow.
- Review the requirements for a replacement facility for Exposition
Hall, and examine the feasibility of locating such a facility in the
area of the Convention Center

SELTI ON 2 City agrees to pay AGC far 31.5 percent of the coat 0f
such feasibility study, up to maximum payment by L,ty 0f 515,000.
