HomeMy WebLinkAbout18570 ORD - 11/29/1984AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH 846617T CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR DRAINAGE AND SURFACE CORRECTION IMPROVEMENTS TO RUNWAY 17-35, AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE W P. WILLS ENGINEERING CONTRACT FOR RESIDENT INSPECTION, AUTHORIZING GULF COAST TESTING LABORATORY, INC TO PROVIDE TESTING SERVICES, APPROPRIATING 8185,000, ALL SUBJECT TO FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION APPROVAL; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS SECTION 1 That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Garrett Construction Company for drainage and surface c ection improvements to Runway 17-35 at Corpus Christi International Airport, all a re fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents o file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and ac cording to the bid of Garrett Construction Company, said bid being the lowestand most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2 That there is hereby authorized an amendment to the W. P. Wills Engineering Contract previously authorized by Ordinance No. 17961 to provide resident inspection in the amount of $17,000, as more fully set forth in the amendment, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof marked Exhibit SECTION 3. That Gulf Coast Testing Laboratory, Inc. is hereby authorized to provide tasting services to be included in pr0Ject contingencies. SECTION 4 That there is hereby appropriated $185,000 from the No. 245 Airport Bond Fund SECTION 5 A11 Of the above actions are subject to Federal Aviation Administration Approval. SECTION 6. That uponitten request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction Of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as t0 consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 29th day of November, 1984.
