AMENDING SECTION 55-50 OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES,
1976 REVISIONS AS AMENDED BY 000148NCE5 17166 AND 18351,
PASSED AND APPROVED JULY 28, 1982, AND JULY 24, 1984,
RESPECTIVELY, BY AMENDING CERTAIN SCHEDULES THEREIN 50 AS
TO REVISE WATER RATES FOR CUSTOMERS USING TREATED OR
UNTREATED WATER.
WHEREAS, various costs of alternative water supply development have
been greatly increased since July 1984, and
WHEREAS, existing conditions and water conservation requirements
have been studied by the City Council and the City Council has concluded that
a new schedule of rates should be adopted, and
WHEREAS, a rate Increase is necessary to make the water distribution
system more self -supportive
NOW,
CORPUS CHR15T1,
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SECTION 1. That Section 55-50 of the City Code of Ordinances, 1976
Revision, as amended by Ordinance No. 18351. passed and approved July 24,
1984, be and the same 1s hereby amended by amending the first two schedules
found In Section 1 of said Ordinance 18351 under the caption TREATED WATER -
REGULAR RATE, to hereinafter read as follows

SECTION 2 That Section 55-50 of the City Code of Ordinances, 1976
Revision, as amended, and particularly as anmnded by Ordinance No. 18351,
passed and approved July 24, 1984, be amended by changing a subsection after
the two schedules found in Section 1 of said Ordinance No. 18351, said
subsection to hereafter read as follows -
Public Agency for Resale Rates
Treated water purchased at the treatment plant site by a public
agency for resale.

SECTION 3. That Section 55-50, City Code of Ordinances, 1976
Revision, as amended by Ordinance No. 17165, be amended by increasing the
price of untreated water to industrial, municipal and domestic users to be
included in said section, reading as follows
"UNTREATED WATER - INDUSTRIAL, MUNICIPAL AND DOMESTIC
All untreated water sold and delivered at the Calallen Pool, Lake Corpus
Christi, or any other point of delivery where such water is available directly
to the consumer, shall be at the fallowing rates.
Commodity Charge
For all water consumed
$0.13 per 1000 gallons
Minimum Charge
Minimum monthly charge, industrial $150.00
Minimum monthly charge, municipal By contract
Minimum monthly charge, domestic $5.00
Minimum annual charge, domestic $50.00"
In instances where the City of Corpus Christi has entered into development of
alternative water supplies, a supplemental charge will be added to the basic
cost of raw water This supplemental charge will be calculated by dividing
the total actual monthly expenditures for well drilling (amortized over four

SECTION 4. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict
SECTION 5. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
unconstitutional by final Judgment of a court of competent Jurisdiction, it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause. phrase,
word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word,
or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be effective for Cycle Nine
billings on or about December 9, 1984 for November water consumption.
5ECTION 7. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption of this
ordinance stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.

Frank Mendez moved and Welder
seconded the motion that the ordinance amending Section 55-50 of the City Code,
revising water rates for customers using treated or untreated water being read
for the first time on November 13, 1984 and the second time on November 20,
1984, be amended prior to the third reading as follows:
1. That Section 1 of said proposed ordinance be amended to establish the
following rates

Christi, or any other point of delivery where such water is available directly
to the consumer, shall be at the following rates:

For all water consumed $0.13 per 1000 gallons
Minimum Charge
Minimum monthly charge, industrial $150.00
Minimum monthly charge, municipal By contract
Minimum monthly charge, domestic 55.00
Minimum annual charge, domestic $50.00"
In instances where the City of Corpus Christi has entered into development of
alternative water supplies, a supplemental charge will be added to the basic

the total actual monthly expenditures for well drilling (amortized over four
Years), Pumping, and land leases, plus other water supply development costS,
by the actual water withdrawn for the month to provide a cost per 1000 gallons
to be billed to each raw water customer according to their use.
