4MEREAS, Tom R. Swantner, a lifelOng resident a. member of a well
known ..d higur reSpeCted Corpus Christi family, was called co h.. eternal rest
on Tuesday, October 9, 1984, and
WHEREAS, Tom Swantner made many contributions through tireless
unstinting and dedicated devotion to our community as reflected by his service
to the City's Park and Recreation Hoard, the COaptal Bend Tourist Bureau, the
Chamber of Cartmerce, TTd the TTIccaneer Commission, to acknowledge only a few,
WHEREAS, among many other honors, Tom was selected outstanding young
man by the JaTTees, recognized for his assistance in the formation of the Little
League and Pony League in COrpna Christi, .d his support of countless Other
religioTT and Charitable projects and endeaVoTT bOth as a businessman and a
civic leader, and
WEEREAS, Tom offered himself and was elected to the Corpus Christi
City Council in 1961 .d serVed this City as Mayor Pro Tem for two Years dui,.
which time the City more than do.led its size in area and experienced
Phenomenal growth and development.
NOW THEREFORE, /T RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS
SECTION 1 That this brief record of the many accomplishments of Tom
R. Swantner be recalled and that the citizens of this community join in mourning
the loss of this valuable citizen.
SECTION 2 That this Resolution be spread upon the mdnutes of the
City of corpus chriscs ooa beCOme a part Of the archives of this City that
generations to come may know of the contributions made by Tom R Swantner.
SECTION 3 That a copy of this Resolution be presented to the family
Of Tom R. Swantner.

an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter Rule as to consideration
and voting UpOn ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings. I,

finally on the date it is introduced.
