HomeMy WebLinkAbout18602 RES - 12/18/1984A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Bill G Read, who has served the City of Corpus Christi for over ten years as City Secretary, will retire from this position on the 31st day of December, 1984, and WHEREAS, prior to his appointment as City Secretary, 8311 Read served as Assistant City Secretary and Assistant to the Mayor during the period between 1068 and 1974; and WHEREAS, Bill Read has been involved in dedicated community se a through his activities in va organizations and s clubs, having served asu service officer in the Corpus Christi Big Brothers; Corpus Christi Chapter of the Council for the Mentally Retarded; as Committeeman for Boy Scout and Sea Scout Troops, having served as an officer in the local Civltan Club as well as the State organization and having received manyhonors as a charter member of the local club, including his selection a Outstanding Civltan of the Year in 1956, 1962, 1965 and 1967, and WHEREAS, inp nnection with his position as City Secretary, gill Read hasbeen very active as an officer in bath the Association of Municipal Clerks and Secretaries of Texasa d the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, having been recognized by both organizations as an expert in State Election Laws NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 000975 CHRISTI, TE%AS SECTION 1. That this record of the many accomplishments of Bill G. Read be recognized and that the citizens of this community ,loin the City Council in honoring this dedicated public servant for his many contributions to this City. SECTION 2. That this Resolution became a part of the archives of this City so that future employees may be aware of his many accomplishments while serving the City of Corpus Christi. 18602 SECTION 3. That a copy of this Resolution be presented to Bill G Read on the occasion of his last City Council Meeting as City Secretary.
