AMENDING CODE SECTION 2-75 TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL MEMBER
EMERITUS POSITION UNTIL COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION AND
DEDICATION OF THE NEW CENTRAL LIBRARY FACILITY; AND
APPOINTING MRS. MARY BELL TO SUCH POSITION, AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 1. Amending Section 2-75 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Corpus Christi, Texas to hereafter read as follows
"Sec. 2-75. Membership.
The Library Board of the City shall consist of seven
(7) regular members. Such members shall be appointed
y the City Council for a term of two years. An eighth

President of the La shall be Retama Club or his designee for a
term of two years A ninth member of the Library Board
shall be a voting emeritus position. Such emeritus
position shall remain until the new central library
facility Construction is completed and dedicated All
positions on the Library Board are subject to the
provisions of Section 2-61. The emeritus position is
specifically excepted from the provisions of Section
SECTION 2. Mrs. Mary Bell ,s hereby appointed to fill the
emeritus position.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five
Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the
need for efficient administration of City affairs by amendment as
aforesaid, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring
suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon
ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure
this the 18th day of December, 1984.
