NAMING THE MODEL AIR FIELD LOCATED WITHIN BILL WITT PARK
R. B. RODDY MODEL AIR DRONE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the Park and Recreation Board, at their December meeting,
voted to accept the recommendation that the model air field located within Bill
Witt Park be named R. B. Roddy Model Air Drome;
WHEREAS, the Board voted to forward this re mmendation to the City
Council of the City of Corpus Christi for its consideration
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS.
SECTION 1. The model air field located within 8111 Witt Park be named
R. B. Roddy Model Air Drome in honor of Mr. R. B. Roddy who has been
instrumental in the local development of model aviation since 1935.
SECTION 2. That upon wr tten request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare anemergency due to the desire of
the City Council to name the facility a aforementioned at the earliest
practicable date, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring
suspension of the Charter rule as to considerationand voting upon ordinances or
resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall
take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 2nd day of
January, 1985.

set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances o resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspnd said charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council
