AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY AMENDING SECTION 53-2,
DEFINITIONS BY DELETING THE DEFINITION FOR COMMERCIAL
VEH1C06 AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR A NEW DEFINITION FOR
COMMERCIAL VEHICLE, AND AMENDING SECTION 53-163, STANDING IN
CURB LOADING ZONES -RESTRICTIONS, BY DELETING SAID SECTION IN
ITS ENTIRELY AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR A NEW SECTION 53-163.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS
SECTION 1 That the Code of Ordinances be amended by amending
Section 53-2, Definitions, by deleting the definition for Commercial Vehicle and
substituting therefore a new definition to read as follows
Commercial Vehicle: Any motor vehicle (other than a
motorcycle) designed or constructed for the transportation
and delivery or pickup of heavy or bulky materials, and
having the
name

inscribed on both £ sides£ of the vehiclle in £letters at
atleast
two (2.) inches high. The use of magnetic or any temporary
or easily removed signs for firm identification will not be
permitted.
SECTION 2. That the Code of Ordinances be amended by amending
Section 53-163, Standing in curb loading z restrictions, by deleting
Section 53-163 in its entirety and subst Luting therefore a new to read as
follows
Section 53-113. Standing or parking in commercial loading
zones
restrictions. No person shall stop, stand or park
anymotor vehicle in any commercial loading zone
on any of
the streets of the City except as provided below:
1. Commercial vehicles loading, unloading, delivering a
picking up freight or parcel materials shall be
permitted to park in commercial loading z s for a
period not to exceed thirty (30) minutes between the
hours of G 00 a and 6.00 p.m (except on Sundays),
and as specified by appropriate signing indicating the

a Loading, unloading, delivery or picking up of
freight or parcel materials shall be restricted to
"coercial-licensed" (i.e., truck licensed)
vehicles only No passenger -licensed vehicles or
any other vehicle otherwise licensed may use such
specially -signed commercial loading zones,

than during the hours during when theprovisions
applicable to such zones are not in effect.
b. There shall be unrestricted time use of specific
commercial loading zones for loading, unloading,
delivery or pick-up offreight or parcel materials
by c nmercial vehicles between the hours of
8.00 a.m - 10.00 a m. and 4 00 p m. - 6 00 p.m
where special signing is placed specifying this
time restriction. At such commercial loading
zones,
ercial vehicles shall be permitted to
parkfor periods not to exceed thirty (30) minutes
between the hours of 10 00 a.m. and 4 00 p.m.

length of time actually engaged in such activity.

3. Where the construction, remodeling or
maintenance of
buildings requires rendering the curbspace unusable,
part of which includes one or more commercial loading
s, the contractor shall be assessed charges as per
Section 53-195.
Under special c rumstances where construction v hicles
involved in the building, construction, remodeling or
maintenance must be parked in commercial loading zones,
Director of T1Tfic Engineering may is se permits for
such privilege. A fee of $3.00 perday (excluding
Sundays) for each construction vehicle will be charged
plus a permit handling fee of $25 00.
5. Non-commercial vehicles shall be permitted to park in
commercial loading zones on Sundays. holidays, and
during the hours when the provisions applicable such
zones are not in effect.
