HomeMy WebLinkAbout18683 RES - 02/05/1985A RESOLUTION REQUESTING A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE ISSUANCE OF A PERMIT TO BURN POLYCHLORINATED BIPHENYLS (PCB's) WHEREAS, The Texas Air Control Board (TACB) is now considering an application from Central Power and Light Company (CP&L) to burn PCB's at the Lon C. Hill Station in Corpus Christi, and WHEREAS, the Texas Asr Control Board may schedule public hearings in the area affected upon the request of local elected offrc1010, and WHEREAS, the City Council is concerned about the burning of such PCB's in the Corpus Lhnsti area. NON, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi hereby requests: SECTION 1. That the Texas Air Control Board schedule a public hearing in Corpus Christi prior to the issuance of a burning permit. SECTION 2 That the hearing be held at a time and location conducive to maximum citizen participation. SECTION 3. That ample notice be given to residents of this community to encourage maximum expression of their concerns SECTION 4. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the desire of the Council to express its intent at the earliest practical date, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances o resolutions at three regular meetings so that this resolution is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 5th day of February, 1985 ATTEST Znd 9 to rHy MAY// CITY F CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS APPR0VE0 4("30400 FEBRUARY, 1085 d.
