HomeMy WebLinkAbout18746 RES - 03/12/198502.083.02 A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, by Act of the Legislature, H.B. 283 Regular Session Chapter 159 (1949), the Lower Nunes River Water Supply District was authorized under the provisions of Article 16, Section 59 of the Texas Constitution for the purpose of managing and otherwise attending to the needs of those depending upon the Lower Nueces River watershed for a fresh water supply. and WHEREAS, the Lower Nueces River Water Supply District vas established in 1949 pursuant to such Act and has performed and carried out its purpose, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lower Nunes Water Supply District and the City of Corpus Christi that the Water Supply District be dissolved and that its assets be transferred to the City of Corpus Christi. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TE%AS SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi hereby urges the Texas Legislature to support legislation dissolving the Lower Nueres Water Supply District and transferring the assets of such entity to the City of Corpus Christi upon its dissolution SECTION 2 That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the n d dissolve such District according to law andthe contract between the riot and the City of Corpus Christi, such finding of an emergency is ide and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rules to Ons1 enation and voting upon ordinances or esolutions at three regular meetings so that this resolution is passed 008 shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 1,7 day on—M.,.nk H 1985.
