WHEREAS, the Junior League of Corpus Christi has, for the past 9
years, sponsored the annual Bayfest celebration during the month of September,
which event has provided the opportunity for the citizens of Corpus Christi and
South Texas to ensoy a three-day outdoor fun festival; and
WHEREAS, the City is in receipt of a check for $12,446.57 reflecting a
contribution which is the result of Bayfest 1984, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of this City Council to extend its most
sincere appreciation to the Junior League for their continuing support and
contributions to the City, both financial and through their good works:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF

SECTION I. That this City Council, on behalf of the entire community,
wishes to extend and express its appreciation to the Junior League of Carpus
Christi for their marvelous efforts in sponsoring the Bayfest celebration and
their generous gift of monies to the community, and to commend the members far
their diligence, their hard work, and their concern for the community.
SECTION 2. That a copy of this resolution be presented to the Junior
League of Corpus Christi as a token of appreciation.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immediate
desire of the City Council to show their appreciation far the diligence and hard
work of the Junior League in promoting Bayfest, such finding of an emergency is
made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration
and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this
resolution is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency
measure this the /q t,4 day of March, 1985

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
s to consideration and voting upon ordinances or esolutions at three
regular meetings; I/We, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance orresolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
