A RESOLUTION
COMMENDING KUNO RADIO FOR SPONSORING THE SUMMER YOUTH
SOFTBALL PROGRAM, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, KUNO Radio through its general manager, Luis A. Munoz, has
expressed a desire to underwrite the 1985 summer youth softball program of the
Corpus Christi Park and Recreation Department;
WHEREAS, the total cast for the program is estimated to be $10,900,
and KUNO Radio has proposed to pay the initial $4,400 in order to proceed with
outfitting of the registered teams, with the balance of $6,500 to be paid to the
City in July, 1985; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is most appreciative of such offer to
provide an opportunity for approximately 650 youngsters to participate in the
softball program during the summer months and desires to publicly express its
appreciation for the generous offer by KUNO Radio,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF

SECTION 1 That the City Council hereby expresses its deep
appreciation to KUNO Radio and to its General Manager, Luis A Munoz, for
underwriting the summer youth softball program and paying the initial $4,400 in
order to proceed with the program and paying the remaining balance in July 1985

SECTION 3 That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
express the City's appreciation to KUNO Radio, such finding of anomergency is
made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration
and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this
resolution i5 passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency
measure this the 26th day of March, 1985.

For the reasons
set forth an the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting ofthe City Council.
