Home My WebLink About18761 ORD - 03/26/198501.067.01 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE UNAUTHORIZED CONNECTION AND RECEPTION OF A CABLE SERVICE AND TAMPERING WITH THE EQUIPMENT FOR THE RECEPTION OF A CABLE SERVICE OF A DULY ENFRANCHISED CABLE OPERATOR OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI. NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION I Amending Chapter 33 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas to provide a new Section 33-22 to read as follows "Section 33-22. Unauthorized Connection and Reception of Cable Service and Tampering With Equipment for Cable Service Prohibited. ( a ) It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly intercept orassist in intercepting o receiving any romnunication service offered over a cable system of a cable operatorduly enfranchised by the City of Corpus Christi, unless specifically authorized to do so by the cable operator, or may otherwise be specifically authorized by law. For the purpose of this Section, the term "assist n intercepting or receiving" shall include the manufacture or distribution of equipment intended by the manufacturer or distributors (as the case may be) for unauthorized reception of any cation service offered over a cable system Sr vev violation of this paragraph (b) It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly remove, modify, tamper with, or destroy any trap, verter, decoder, or equipment or device installed by the holder of a cable television franchise in order to r service without the permission or authorization ofthe franchise holder (c) It shall be unlawful to knowingly extend a cable television signal to an additional television set or sets or other equipment designed to receive cable service transmission of the holder of a cable television franchise without the franchise holder's permission. 18161- MICROFILMED •, 01.067.01 (0) A person who violates paragraphs (a) and (b) of this Section shall be fined not less than $100 for the first such offense and shall be fined $200 for any subsequent offense. (e) A person who violates paragraph (c) of this Section shall be fined not less than $50 for each such offense.
