AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CHANGE ORDER FOR THE LIBRARY
THIRD FLOOR SHELL ADDITION; APPROPRIATING $610,000; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a
change order for the Library third floor shell addition including engineering and
additional architectural fees.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $610,000 of which
$220,000 is from the No. 269 Library Bond Fund, $190,000 is from the Reserved
Interest Fund, and $200,000 is from the Reserved Interest Fund to be reimbursed
out of next year's budget through the purchase of books by Nueces County subject
to the approval of the Nueces County Commissioner's Court, with the
understanding that there will be no non-resident charge for Nueces County
citizens outside of Corpus Christi for use of the Library, and if this is not
approved by Nueces County, Certificates of Obligation will be sold for this
portion of the cost.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of
executing the abovementioned change order and appropriating said funds at the
earliest practicable date, such finding of an emergency is made and declared
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon
ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is
passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the
day of April, 1985.

or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
