HomeMy WebLinkAbout18845 ORD - 05/21/1985AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT TAXES ASSESSED FOR THE TAX YEAR 1984 WHICH REMAIN DELINQUENT ON JULY 1, 1985 SHALL INCUR AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF, FIFTEEN PERCENT (15%) OF THE AMOUNT OF TAMES, PENALTY, AND INTEREST DUE, IN ORDER TO DEFRAY COSTS OF COLLECTIONS PURSUANT TO SECTION 33 07, PROPERTY TAM CODE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Legal Services for the Tax Office are rrently furnished to the City of Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi Independent School District, and Corpus Christi Junior College District by an Assistant City Attorney; and various lawmSfueCictoyllofctof Cinuehntastareeaedd proposals from WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi, for and on behalf of the Corpus Christi Independent School District and Corpus Christi Junior College District, has contracted with an attorney pursuant to the provisions of Section 6.30, Texas Property Tax Code, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS' SECTION 1. That those taxes assessed for the tax year 1984 which remain delinquent on July 1, 1985 shall incur an additional penalty of fifteen percent (15%) of the amount of taxes, penalty, and interest due in order to defray costs of collection. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of efficient administration of affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter Rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinance or esolutions at three regular meetings so that this resolution is passed_end shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the , da f Y _, 1985.
