AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 1984-85 BUDGET, SPECIAL PROGRAMS
102-267-518.48, CODE 101, BY AUTHORIZING THE HIRING OF UP TO
48 TEMPORARY POSITIONS FOR THE SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM AT
A MAXIMUM COST OF $64,800 OR THE AMOUNT OF REQUIRED FEES
RECEIVED, WHICHEVER IS LESS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Fiscal Year 1984-85 Budget, Special Programs
102-267-518.48, Code 101, is hereby amended by authorizing the hiring of up to
48 temporary positions for the summer recreation program at a maximum cost of
$64,800 or the amount of required fees received, whichever is less. The total
cost of adding the maximum 48 additional positions for the entire summer program
is $92,571 of which $64,800 would be required for Fiscal Year 1984-85 and
$27,771 would be required for program overlap into Fiscal Year 1985-86.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of
amending the 1984-85 budget as aforementioned at the earliest practicable date,
such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the
Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at
three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 28th day of May, 1985.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
