AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH CURRIES, INC.,
FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF 685 PALM TREES; APPROPRIATING
$9,183.23; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a
contract with Curries, Inc., for the replacement of 685 palm trees, with the
option to increase the quantity to 740 trees based upon planting conditions, to
be planted in the following areas: Shoreline Drive, Bayfront Science Park,
Ropes Park, Lawrence T -Head, Peoples T -Head, Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi Beach,
and Cole Park.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $9,183.23 from the
No. 111-243.90 Palms Up Trust Fund into the Palm Replacement Fund No. 291-84-3.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of
executing the abovementioned contract at the earliest practicable date, such
finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter
rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon
first reading as an emergency measure this the 28th day of May, 1985.
