AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH BLACK BROTHERS
CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF GAZEBOS, ARBORS,
AREA LIGHTING, WALKWAYS, IRRIGATION FACILITIES AND OTHER
LANDSCAPING WORK IN BOTH TEMPLE AND ARTESIAN PARKS;
APPROPRIATING $97,259.79; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a
contract with Black Brothers Construction, Inc. for the construction of gazebos,
arbors, area lighting, walkways, irrigation facilities and other landscaping
work in both Temple and Artesian Parks, all as more fully set forth in plans and
specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City
Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the
bid of Black Brothers Construction, Inc. said bid being the lowest and most
advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $45,423.28 from the
No. 162-152-807.07, 9th Year Community Development Block Grant, and utilizing
$51,836.51 from the No. 162-152-807.08, 10th Year Community Development Grant
authorized by passage of Ordinance No. 18232 dated May 16, 1984, for a total
appropriation of $97,259.79.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take
immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the
construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this
the 9th day of July, 1985.

or at the present meeting of the City Council.
