HomeMy WebLinkAbout18919 ORD - 07/16/1985AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE VEHICLES AND CRAFTS OF THE MARINA SUPERINTENDENT AND THE MARINA DIVISION AS AUTHORIZED EMERGENCY VEHICLES WHILE RESPONDING TO EMERGENCIES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, ARTICLE 6701d, SECTION 2(d) of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas authorizes the City Council to designate emergency vehicles of municipal departments or public service corporations as "authorized emergency vehicles"; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Amending Chapter 15, of the City of Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances by adding a new subparagraph (d) to Section 15-11, Designation of Certain Authorized Emergency Vehicles, to hereafter read as follows: (d) Superintendent of the Marina vehicle, Marina Division Patrol vehicles and crafts while responding to emergency calls or emergency situations. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for efficient administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 16th day of July, 1985.
