AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE UPON APPLICATION OF THE
CHURCH OF GOOD SHEPHERD BY CHANGING THE ZONING MAP IN
REFERENCE TO A PORTION OF TRACT D, LOT 3 OF THE ORR
SUBDIVISION OUT OF R.W. RAYNE TRACT FROM "A-1"
APARTMENT HOUSE DISTRICT TO "AB" PROFESSIONAL OFFICE
DISTRICT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has forwarded to the City
Council its reports and recommendations concerning the application of the
Church of Good Shepherd for amendment to the zoning map of the City of
Corpus Christi.
WHEREAS, public hearing was held at which hearing all persons
wishing to appear and be heard were heard, to consider the same before the
City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, in accordance with proper
notice to the public, said public hearing having been held on Tuesday,
August 20, 1985, at regular Council meeting of the City Council in the
Council Chamber at City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, by motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was
decided by the City Council that to approve the hereinafter set forth
amendment would best serve public health, necessity and convenience and the
general welfare of the City of Corpus Christi and its citizens:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Corpus
Christi. Texas, is amended by making the change hereinafter set out.
SECTION 2. That the zoning on a portion of Tract D, Lot 3 of the
Orr Subdivision out of R.W. Rayne Tract in the City of Corpus Christi,
Nueces County, Texas, as further described by metes and bounds description
below, be changed from "A-1" Apartment House District to "AB" Professional
Office District:

BEGINNING at an iron pipe on the East line of
Carancahua Street at the Northwest corner of the land
owned by Mildred Seaton, for the Southwest corner of
this tract;
THENCE, with the East line of Carancahua Street North
40°15' West at 79.98 feet, the corner post of a fence
between the Born and Bernard property, it also being
the North line of the Rayne Tract, for the Northwest
corner of this tract;

THENCE, South 82° East with the North line of the Rayne
Tract at 260.14 feet intersect the West line of South
Broadway, for the Northeast corner of this tract;
THENCE, with the West line of South Broadway, South 10°
15' East at 80.4 feet, a fence post, it being the
Northeast corner of land of Mildred Seaton for the
Southwest corner of this tract;
THENCE, North 82° West with the North line of Mildred
Seaton's land 255.8 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING.
SAVE AND EXCEPT that portion of said property which
lies west of the east line (which runs South 4°15'
East) of the property conveyed to Jonas Weil from S.J.
Lichtenstein by deed dated July 13, 1911, recorded in
Volume 83, pages 326 and 327, Deed Records of Nueces
County, Texas.
SECTION 3. That the official zoning map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 4. That the Zoning Ordinance
Corpus Christi, Texas, approved on the 27th day of
from time to time, except as herein changed, shall
effect.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or
conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 6. That upon written request of the Mayor or five
Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the
need for efficient administration of City affairs by granting the aforesaid
zoning change, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring
suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon
ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
