AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 29, MUNICIPAL COURTS, CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI CODE OF ORDINANCES BY ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION
ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION FOR JURORS IN MUNCIPAL COURT JURY
TRIALS AT $6.00 PER DAY PER JUROR; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 29, Municipal Courts, City of Corpus Christi
Code of Ordinance, be amended by adding a new subsection 29-50 to read as
follows:
Sec. 29-47. Jury Duty Compensation Established.
$6.00 will be paid to each person for each day or part
thereof that such person serves as a juror in the trial of
cases before a municipal court of the city.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immediate
need for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs by setting
a pay scale for jury service in Municipal Court, such finding of an emergency
is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to
consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular
meetings so that this ordinance is passed a n shall take�afffeyt uppn first

or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
